VIRAC, CATANDUANES – Among the 31 provincial beneficiaries of AKBAY Program or Agrikultura: Kaagapay ng Bayang Pinoy nationwide, the province of Catanduanes is the best implementer in terms of repayment, garnering a total collection of P1.7 million roll over fund for CY 2016. This was reported by Engr. Jahensi Supanga who represented Elgie Namia, Chief of Partnership Development Division of the Philippine Council of Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) during the Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) Mobile Meeting and awarding of P10,000 worth livelihood checks for each of the 32 recipients held at the Rakdell Inn this municipality on February 23.
Supanga also stressed the importance of repayment to the AKBAY beneficiaries present, which she said sustains the roll over fund of the AKBAY Program. The said program which is under the 2KR – Japanese Grant Assistance for the Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers Program is assisting the poorest farming families by providing an interest-free loan up to P10,000 intended for short gestating livelihood projects. The Department of Agriculture (DA) serves as fund conduit. It was launched in Catanduanes in 2009.
