PILI, CAMARINES SUR – The Department of Agriculture, Regional Field Office 5 headed by the Regional Executive Director himself, Engr. Abelardo Bragas together with the agency’s Regional Technical Directors, division chiefs and staffs welcome 30 interns who made it out of 218 applicants this year during the flag raising ceremony last April 20, 2015. Accordingly, this year has the most number of summer interns compared to the last years wherein 20-25 interns were only accepted.

QUEZON CITY – Seventeen (17) young farmers finished the 75-day pre-departure orientation course under the Young Filipino Farmers Training Program in Japan (YFFTPJ) for this year. The culminating activity of the 2015 batch was held on April 7 at the Rural Development Education Center of the Agricultural Training Institute, Diliman, this city. This is an annual undertaking of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries in collaboration with the Japan Agricultural Exchange Council and Japan Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
DAET, CAMARINES NORTE – Pineapple farmers here can now plant other varieties aside from the Queen Pineapple which is known for its very sweet fruit and sturdy leaves that are made into piña cloth.
Through a colourful harvest festival conducted on March 26, the DA-operated Camarines Norte Lowland Rainfed Research Station in barangay Calasgasan, this town, has introduced two new varieties of pineapple whose adaptability and yield performance has been tested for more than two years in the said station.
