The Summer Youth Internship Program (SYIP) of DA Bicol concluded this Monday, August 5, with a joyful and memorable graduation ceremony.
The SYIP was implemented by the Human Resource Management Section led by Janet Pasamba. During the graduation, Pasamba recognized the dedication and hard work of the selected students in completing the Summer Job Program.
Camille Grace Nacario, the representative of the entire batch of interns, shared her impressions and experiences in the division where she was assigned. She expressed gratitude to DA for providing the opportunity to learn and gain new experiences that they will carry into their daily lives. They learned about each other’s strengths and weaknesses, and Nacario mentioned that the SYIP helped them become aware of the real world. The values of teamwork and respect are what they will bring back to their classes this year.
The interns also gave performances that added color to the occasion. The division heads and their representatives awarded certificates and simple gifts to their respective interns.
Earlier in May, approximately 400 applicants went to the Department of Agriculture to submit their requirements to be part of the Summer Youth Internship Program 2024. This program, initiated by the DA in 2016, provides students with the opportunity to serve the government and learn from various departments where they are assigned.
Due to the unexpectedly large number of applicants, they were divided into two groups, with examinations starting on May 6 and May 7. Interviews for the successful applicants were conducted on May 13. Their internship began on June 3, with a total of 22 students from various schools qualifying for the Summer Youth Internship Program 2024.
According to Lorenzo Alvina, OIC Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulations, in his opening message, the students are fortunate to receive a salary for their 45 days of stay at DA.
In her closing message, Maria Christina Campita, head of the Research Division, shared three Ps to carry with them daily to achieve their goals: Prayer, Persistence, and Purpose. (Angela Mae Lafuente – RAFIS 5)
