DA Bicol Regional Executive Director Rodel P. Tornilla was the commencement speaker during the 93rd Commencement Exercises of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) on June 23, 2022.

“We need to cultivate a more resilient food system to ensure food sustainability and help supply chains respond to these crises,” RED Tornilla said.

“The CBSUA and other State Universities and Colleges have the vital role of generating qualified agriculturists and experts for our country. Agriculturists and experts who will be responsible for implementing effective food systems so that we may never experience the food crisis experts are warning us of.” Our country must also have food sovereignty, a food system wherein the people who produce, distribute and consume food also control the mechanisms and policies of food production and distribution. And all of us here have a part to play if we want food sovereignty”.
