The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI) and Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) honored Gold Crest Aviary, Inc. (GCAI) of Ligao City, Albay as the first Avian Influenza-Free Compartment in the Philippines during a ceremony held on January 24, 2025, at Hotel St. Ellis in Legazpi City, Albay. National Livestock Program Undersecretary Dr. Constante J. Palabrica personally awarded the certificate. The award was received by Engr. Fernando O. Rañola, CEO of GCAI.

The Avian Influenza-Free Compartment Award recognizes poultry farms that have successfully implemented and maintained rigorous biosecurity measures and comprehensive surveillance programs to prevent the introduction and spread of Avian Influenza (AI).

This prestigious award underscores Gold Crest Aviary’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of biosecurity and avian health. This dedication remains steadfast even as our nation confronts the ongoing global challenge of Avian Influenza.

Also present during the ceremony were: National Avian Influenza Focal Person Director Arlene Vytiaco, Regulatory Division Chief Rosita M. Imperial, Dr. Rosela A. Tenerife, Dr. Maris E. Guillermo, Dr. Rona Bernales, Albay APCO Florentino Ubalde, Jr. representing RED Rodel Tornilla, Animal Health and Welfare Division Chief Dr. Hyacinth G. Napiloy and National Veterinary Quarantine Services Division (NVQSD) OIC-Chief Dr. Christian Daquigan.
