PURO, Legazpi City—More than 230 military men and representatives of government agencies including the Department of Agriculture-Bicol participated in the Clean-Up Drive of a mangrove area here as a kick-off event in celebration of the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Army with the theme “122 years of Heroism: Serving the people, Securing the Land.”

According to Lieutenant Colonel Infantry (General Staff Corps) Napoleon G. Pabon of the Philippine Army, the Civil Military Operations (CMO) Kaagapay Battalion was tapped to showcase the various capabilities and its accomplishments, recognize the role of stakeholders and encourage the public to support the army through various convergence activities.

Pabon also said that the Clean-Up Drive showed the strong support of the army in preserving and protecting the environment.

The participants were able to collect more than 230 sacks of garbage in the said area. (jaysonmgonzales)
