SORSOGON CITY—The Department of Agriculture-5 allocated almost P2M-worth of farm machineries and inputs to the province of Sorsogon, Sorsogon Cacao Producers Association, Taboc Damayan Livelihood Association and various municipalities during the Agri-Tourism Trade Expo Opening Ceremonies in this city.

The interventions and assistance include seedlings, 50 bags palay, 20 units wheelbarrow, vacuum sealer, 3 drums, Mini 4WD Tractor, six Chainsaws, Collapsible Dryer, 20 Fermentation Boxes, and vegetable seeds.

Aside from agricultural products, the exhibit also showcased the DA-project Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) beneficiaries and their products.

This month-long celebration of the Kasanggayahan Festival, which means “life of prosperity” or kasaganahan in Tagalog, is aimed at showcasing the different tourism sites, agricultural products, art, culture, history, technologies and innovations. This year, the festival is celebrating two important historial events—125th years of existence of Sorsogon as a province and to commemorate the 450th year since the first mass on the island of Luzon was held in Sitio Gibalon, now the town of Magallanes.
